Sunday 26th January saw 11 of us at El Bosquet Fisheries for out 2nd league match and waving ‘goodbye’ to January, which went out with a bang, well, for one angler it did.

There are no prizes for guessing just who that was…..a certain ex-World Champion (yes, I know, AGAIN) slammed 27kg on the scales to win for the “nth” time….and luckily for the rest of us mere mortals, he has but one match left and we will smile as we say “Adios Harry Billing, no te apresures a volver” as we wave him off.

In second place in his section on the “wides” and fishing peg 13 was Kevin Thurgood with 9.100 grammes and way, way behind in 3rd place from end peg 11, was his ‘bumchum’ Alan Frith with a level 9kg.

Section A was won by a late entrant and one of our Belgian members, Max de Groot who put 9.830grammes on the scales from peg 2.

Martin Fisher from peg 4 was a very close runner-up with 9.570 and a closer 3rd was Dave Hutchinson from peg 8 with 9.400.

For the final section, we decided to use the late pegs on D section and making no mistake from the end peg (again!) was John Havercroft with 7.200 and fishing in his only second match was “The Bossman” Alan Bolwell and he managed to coax out a level 6kg for the runner-up slot from the other end peg, number 37.

Our next and 3rd league match is 9th February then the 23rd for our 4th league match. The 28th of February see’s the Match Group head to Bellus for our first of 17 matches on that venue and which is going to be very generously sponsored by Aqualyze Water Filter Systems.

Aqualyze Water Filter Systems have been installing drinking water systems in houses/ apartments since 2008 and they have estimated to have saved some 96,000,000 plastic bottles from being used and dumped.

They are donating an under-sink drinking water filter system with a value of 199€ as a prize for the one of the top 3 winners.
