Crescendo International Choir performed a concert of traditional music from around the world on Saturday, November 22, at Salt Church, in Los Montesinos. Some of the music sung included the American song ‘Cross the wide Missouri, the Italian Funiculí, Funiculà, the Dutch Aan de Amsterdamse Grachten, the New Zealand Maori Medley, the English Amazing Grace, the Spanish El Tio Pep, Besame Mucho, El Vito and the South African Siyahamba.
To make the event extra special a Scottish bagpiper and Spanish professional dolçaina player also performed for the several hundred people attending the event. The dolçaina player is David Valera. He also composes and conducts music. The bagpipe player’s name is Donnie MacDiarmid.
On November 8, Crescendo Choir also gave a music from around the world concert at the School of Music and Culture, in Los Montesinos, performing with a choir from Altea called Cor de la Societat Filharmonica Alteanense and a local choir called Coral Aromas de Azahar de los Montesinos. Crescendo Choir sang many of the same songs performed at the Salt Church event. Plus, all three choirs sang the fun tune Zottelmarsch together.
Crescendo Choir is planning two Christmas concerts. The first one will be held on Sunday, December 14 at 7 pm at Iglesia de Santiago de Apostol in Benijofar. The following night, Monday, December 15, the choir will give a Christmas concert at La Siesta Evangelical Church in Torrevieja.
If you are interested in getting involved in singing in Crescendo Choir, you are invited to come to one of their rehearsals. Rehearsals are being held at Rincon de Miguel restaurant in Los Montesinos every Monday from 17:30 to 19:50 until further notice. All singers are welcome.

The choir would be delighted to welcome new singers. The current choir includes people from England, Scotland, Wales, the US, the Netherlands, Germany, and Scandinavia, among other nationalities. Its music director, Irene Oliva, and its pianist Carlos Almela, are both accomplished Spanish musicians.
