This year, Altea’s Christmas Market moves to the recently renovated Avenida de la Comunidad Valenciana, just 50 meters from the large free parking lot, allowing visitors to park practically “right at the door”. A comfortable and lively setting to enjoy four days of festive atmosphere, with Christmas music, puppet shows, and storytelling for children.
The market will be open from the 5th till the 8th of December (in Spain, the 8th is a National Holiday), and as always, it will be organized by Amata, an association of artists and artisans, which guarantees that everything sold is handmade.
This commitment to authenticity will also be reflected in the market’s nativity scene, a collective creation where each figure has been crafted by a different artisan. The result promises to be a surprise: Joseph is made of fabric, the shepherd and his sheep are ceramic, one of the Three Kings is grafted in soap, another is wood, and the ox is made of welded horseshoes, etc.
There will be around thirty stalls offering a wide variety of handicrafts: ceramics, leatherwork and patchwork, wooden and soft toys, original wire lamps shaped like insects or made from pinecones, jewelry with unique designs, and many other special items, all handmade by their creators.
It’s the perfect opportunity to buy or order your Christmas presents, ensuring you give something original, lovingly crafted, and handmade.
As in previous years, there will be mulled wine and a stall selling artisanal sweets, including options for people with special dietary needs. For children, in addition to puppet shows and storytelling, there will also be workshops, board games, and soap bubble shows.
The market will open on Friday, the 5th of December at 6:00 pm, and on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday from 11:00 am till 9:00 pm, without closing at midday.
