Carlos Mazón has announced the first aid package for people affected by the fire in the Campanar apartments in Valencia.

The Consell will grant between 6,000 and 10,000 euros in direct aid for essential expenses, and between 1,000 and 1,500 euros per month for housing rental.

The aid from the Generalitat will be compatible with that of other administrations and will be channelled through the Valencia City Council

The President explained that this aid will be approved in the extraordinary session of the Plenary Council, which will be held to activate the necessary measures as soon as possible to alleviate their situation.

“It is important”, he said, “that it is distributed quickly, that time can be saved and bureaucracy is avoided.”

Specifically, the Consell will approve a first package of direct aid of between 6,000 and 10,000 euros, depending on the members that make up the family unit, to cover basic expenses such as food, clothing or transportation, “so that people attend to the most basic and urgent things,” he said.

The aid decree will also include amounts of between 1,000 and 1,500 euros per month for families who choose to rent a home, and for those who choose to purchase a property, the Generalitat will exempt them from paying the Property Transfer Tax.

In addition, a package of social aid is being considered, including a permanent psychological assistance service, beyond the urgent assistance that the Valencia City Council is providing in collaboration with the Red Cross, as well as the preferential relocation of dependent or vulnerable people. who need a place in a residence, day centre or specialised centre, and the preferential reschooling of minors whose families decide to send their children to school in another location.

The Generalitat will also offer free public transportation for affected families for a minimum of one year, and has coordinated with various animal shelters to facilitate temporary access for pets that may require care by making two veterinary hospitals available, in case they are necessary.

Finally, the president repeated his gratitude to the fire departments of the many different administrations for the extraordinary effort they are carrying out.
