The Los Verdes green party in Torrevieja continue to share their election promises if they win, and this time they have explained a proposal that they consider a “pillar to achieve a city adapted to current conditions”, through the creation of an “energy community”.

The intention, they explain, is to turn Torrevieja into a a space free of contamination, dependent only on clean and renewable energy and in which the green zones predominate, above the brick and the concrete.

The greens consider it essential to implement a new energy model, taking into account the obsolescence of the current one. The consequences of the use of sources of non-renewable energy on our planet are tangible for all: droughts, increase in sea temperature, increase in global temperature and a direct impact on the economy.

With all this data, they want to change the course of Torrevieja, applying various changes among which include the use of electric vehicles in municipal fleets, something other neighbouring town halls have been far ahead of Torrevieja in developing, and also generating funding so that private individuals can also make an easier switch to eco-vehicles.

They also intend to promote a sustainable Energy Plan. For Torrevieja to join the numerous other municipalities in our community that promote energy communities, through the creation of a municipal green and affordable energy company.

They will also promote these actions and raise awareness through environmental education programs, to the population in general and, very especially, to the school population, since they believe that everything changes for the better, and it begins with education from the earliest ages.

“With this project, our intention is to favour the progress of an energy model that allows us to get rid of the slavery imposed on us by the electric companies and, above all, it implies a more active participation of the users in energy management. We want to favour the implementation of a new energy model much more decentralised and with active participation of people, users in energy management,” commented the mayoral candidate for Los Verdes, Israel Muñoz.

“The evidence is there, and we cannot ignore it. Environmental issues have been done wrong for too long and now we must try to reverse a situation every most worrisome day. Therefore, our commitment in this aspect is complete. We want to turn Torrevieja into a sustainable place, respectful with the environment and full of green zones, which currently and due to the disastrous policies exercised for years, are practically non-existent in our municipality. Another city is possible and we are willing to get that change”.
