Mojácar Local Police has arrested four people suspected of stealing a vehicle in collaboration with the Civil Guard and with the collaboration of a resident who alerted the officers.

On the afternoon of the 21st of this month, the officers making up the patrol service received a phone call reporting that at the entrance of a well-known supermarket of the fourth zone, young individuals were hanging around with a suspicious attitude and went off in a Seat vehicle, model Leon, providing the officers with the registration.

On requesting the information related to the aforementioned car, the Local Police discovered that it came up as stolen, the owner having reported the theft in Seville.

The officers immediately deployed surveillance work to find the vehicle and found it on the Mojácar-Turre road by Santa María in the direction of Turre, doing a U-turn to try and intercept the vehicle.

Following a chase in which the vehicle fled, overtaking the vehicles ahead of it in a continuous line, it was finally intercepted at the roundabout providing access to Mojácar village.

The Local Police officers verified there were four individuals travelling inside the vehicle who fully matched the description provided by the caller. Support was requested from a Guardia Civil patrol to proceed to the arrest of the four occupants for an alleged crime of theft of the use of a motor vehicle, being transferred to the Local Police Station and subsequently to the Garrucha Civil Guard station for the preliminary corresponding legal proceedings, based on the existing collaboration protocols between both police forces.

The vehicle was transferred by tow truck to the municipal pound, remaining there to be recovered by the owner.

Mojácar Local Police want to highlight the importance of citizen collaboration, which has been fundamental in the localisation and arrest of these four dangerous individuals, with extensive criminal records, grateful always for the help of residents in carrying out their duties.
