The Guardia Civil has arrested two men after they were allegedly caught fleeing the scene of a burglary at a restaurant in La Manga del Mar Menor, Cartagena.

The arrests were made as part of the Guardia Civil’s Plan Comercio Seguro security initiative, following a report of a burglary in progress at a restaurant in the area.

Patrols sent to the scene intercepted a high-end sports car as it was leaving the location. Two men were inside the vehicle.

During a search of the car, officers found a tablet device for which the suspects were unable to provide an explanation. Guardia Civil officers later confirmed that the tablet had been stolen from the restaurant where the burglary had taken place.

Further checks revealed that the high-end sports car had officially been taken off the road and was not authorised for circulation. The vehicle was subsequently seized.

The two suspects, aged 27 and 44, are both residents of Cartagena and are described by investigators as experienced offenders with extensive criminal records.

They have been arrested on suspicion of burglary with forced entry.
