On the very last day of June, the ADAPT Metal Detecting Club received an urgent email—someone had lost a precious gold Cartier ring in the sea and was desperately hoping we could help.
A man on holiday in Playa Flamenca had been enjoying a swim when he noticed that his beloved, and very expensive, Cartier wedding ring had slipped off his finger. Despite spending hours searching in the surf, the ring had vanished beneath the sand.
In his search of help, he came across the ADAPT Metal Detecting Club, thanks to recommendations from others who knew about the specialised search and recovery service. Equipped with professional-grade underwater metal detectors, ADAPT is often called upon to help people recover lost items, and they were more than willing to lend a hand.
The group met him at the beach and entered the surf, carefully scanning the area he believed he lost it. Armed with our experience and top-of-the-line equipment, they began the search.
Amazingly, within just 45 minutes, success! One of their dedicated members, Jelle, detected the ring and pulled it from beneath the sand. The owner was stunned. He truly believed it was lost forever—but there it was, safely back in his hand. His gratitude was written all over his face.
As the group emerged from the water, applause broke out from nearby beachgoers who had been watching the search unfold. Even sunbathers gave the detectorists a nod of approval, clearly delighted by the happy ending.
Huge congratulations to Jelle for the recovery and to all the ADAPT MD members who continue to volunteer their time and skills to help others. They take great pride in what they do, and they’re always ready to assist anyone in need of locating lost metal valuables.
Who knows what the rest of the summer has in store for them? It’s already been an eventful year, filled with exciting new adventures—and they’re just getting started.
