Murcia, July 1, 2025 – The Guardia Civil of the Murcia region and Abarán Local Police, as part of their ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking, have dismantled an indoor marijuana plantation inside a house in Abarán through Operation ‘Alfil.’
Two individuals responsible for the plantation were arrested on suspicion of crimes against public health for drug cultivation and production, and electricity fraud. Nearly 100 flowering cannabis plants and all equipment used in the grow operation were confiscated.
The investigation began several months ago after receiving information about a possible illicit marijuana grow operation inside a house in Abarán.
Security and police forces initiated the operation to verify and clarify the criminal activities and apprehend those responsible.
The investigation located a house in the town center suspected of housing an indoor cannabis grow operation. The two suspects, both with prior records for similar crimes, were identified. The house was also found to have illegal electrical connections, a common feature in such operations.
After gathering sufficient evidence, the Guardia Civil and Abarán Police executed a search and dismantled the intensive indoor cannabis plantation, which at the time contained nearly 100 large, mature marijuana plants.
The operation ended with the arrest of the two suspects, charged with drug-related offenses and electricity fraud.
In addition to the plants, authorities seized all sophisticated lighting, heating, irrigation, and ventilation equipment used for the cannabis cultivation.
