In connection with the 50th anniversary of the 14th Wing, the Spanish Air and Space Force has launched a competition to design a new livery for their celebratory Eurofighter.

Ala 14, based in the Los Llanos airbase in Albacete turns 50 in June, and as part of those celebrations the military personnel and the civilian population have been invited to be part of the showcase.

In the rules of this competition, it is stated that, “The design must reflect the nature of the project, making special reference to the 50th anniversary, but without neglecting the traditions of the 14th Wing, as well as the hallmarks of its two flight squadrons, the 141 and 142”.

Before you get your crayons out, you must also be aware that there are rules.

Firstly, only the vertical drift will be painted on both sides, the canard planes, above and below, and the external fuel tanks under each wing. Proposals that include other areas of the aircraft will be automatically discarded.

The design must be entirely original and unpublished, and without using elements, such as designs or photographs from third parties.

Up to 3 proposals may be submitted, which must be in vector format (.AI, .PDF, .SVG, .EPS and similar), and must be accompanied by an explanatory text about their interpretation and meaning.

Your completed design must then be sent to oficomala14_ea@mde.es, also including in the body of the message your name and surname, ID, postal address and contact telephone number. The subject must indicate “Concurso de pintura C.16 ALA 14 50 años”. The deadline is March 14 at 11:59 p.m.

The winner will receive a diploma, a trophy, a guided tour of Ala 14 and a VIP pass for two people to the air festival that will be held at the Los Llanos air base on June 16 to celebrate the anniversary.
