With buses operating which date back to 2006, old, uneconomical, and lacking environmental credentials of newer vehicles, and despite thousands of residents now having to pay for the service which had been free, and despite the promise of renewed contracts, new buses, etc, etc, the Mayoral candidate for the Partido Popular (PP) in Torrevieja, who is of course the current mayor and responsible for the service now, has promised that if he is elected again, he will, “Put all available means to renew vehicles, improving the working conditions of workers and the quality of service for users.”

Dolón held a meeting with the representatives of the Urban Transport Company Committee of Torrevieja, with whom he promised, among other issues, to use all means legal so that current jobs are guaranteed, as well as ensure that the working conditions of workers are maintained or improved, as well as putting all available means to renew vehicles improving the quality of service for users.

The electoral contract with the representatives of the Urban Transport Company Committee of Torrevieja is reflected in these 7 points:

  1. Use all legal mechanisms so that all current jobs are guaranteed.
  2. Establish all the means available to the City Council so that the company hires and maintains part-time workers and reinforcement workers, so necessary in times of greatest population in our city.
  3. Ensure that the working conditions of workers are maintained or improved.
  4. Put all available means to renew vehicles, improving the working conditions of workers and the quality of service for users.
  5. Consider all legal means so that the contract is fulfilled in all its terms, once awarded, in such a way that the rights of workers and bus users are protected.
  6. Hold quarterly meetings with the representatives of the service workers so that they report on the provision of the service, their vision and aspects to be improved.
  7. Provide sufficient infrastructure to cover the needs of service personnel (toilets, security, night services, etc.)

Dolón has been mayor for the last 4 years, winning a majority in 2019, having lost in the election in 2015, when, nationally, the PP gained one of their biggest leads, and has been involved in politics in Torrevieja since 1999.
