The Grand National is a race that is enjoyed around the world, including here in Spain. This year’s contest once again produced a memorable renewal, with Corach Rambler scoring for Scottish-based trainer Lucinda Russell.

Defending champion Noble Yeats has to settle for fourth place this year, with Vanillier and Gaillard Du Mesnil completing the placings, finishing second and third respectively.
Corach Rambler Tops Betting To Defend Crown In 2024

Corach Rambler already tops the horse racing odds to replicate his success in 2024. The nine-year-old is 20/1 to become just the 1oth horse in history to win the marathon contest in Liverpool more than once. If he did defend his crown, he would give his trainer a third win in the race.

Stamina is something that Corach Rambler has shown he has in abundance. He was successful in the 2022 and 2023 renewals of the Ultima Handicap Chase, a race over 3m2f on day one of the Cheltenham Festival. His latest win at Aintree showcases how much he appreciates a stiff test.

Corach Rambler was assigned 10st 5lb in this year’s Grand National, which put him 26th on the list. His connections can expect to be handed much more next season, as he is now rated as high as 159 in the official ratings.

Noble Yeats Ends Season With Another Solid Run

Although Noble Yeats was unable to replicate his success from the race in 2022, he once again produced a big performance. Emmet Mullins’ runner had 15lbs more weight this year but he was still able to challenge in the closing stages.

Connections of the Irish horse will have been pleased by his campaign this season, as not only has registered wins at Aintree and Wexford, but he was fourth in the Cheltenham Gold Cup at the Cheltenham Festival. He is set to return to the Blue Riband event in the sport in 2024 and he could also big to regain his crown in the Grand National.

Irish Challenger Just Fell Short For Mullins

Irish trainer Willie Mullins had an excellent season in the UK and Ireland, with notable success coming with Galopin Des Champions in the 2023 Cheltenham Gold Cup. The Irishman went close to a second Grand National victory with Gaillard Du Mesnil. His chaser showed that he has an exciting future in the big staying handicap chases.

Gaillard Du Mesnil was the winner of the National Hunt Challenge Cup at Cheltenham earlier in the season. That 3m6f contest has been won by some talented horses in the past. Mullins now must decide what path to take with his horse in the 2023/24 campaign.

In what is set to be the 176th running of the Grand National next year, the quality of the race is likely to continue. The list of runners and weights will be announced in February, two months ahead of the event.
