Juan Javier Serrano Garcia studied at the Royal Northern College of Music gaining a Masters degree that has since stood him in good stead.

“I went to Manchester to study music for two years,” Montesinos Musical Group euphonium star Juan, told The Leader.

Juan, who appeared at Spain’s 2023 Regional Final of Music in Alicante, gaining a group 1st place with Honours, which enabled MMG to go through to the final in Valencia, said: “I studied for a Masters degree to improve my music skills.”

The RNCM continues to be acknowledged worldwide for its exciting and innovative approach to teaching and research.

It is rated Gold in the 2017 Teaching Excellence Framework and noted as the UK’s leading conservatoire for research, recognition includes multiple Times Higher Education and Greater China Awards, and a Global Teaching Excellence Award.

Juan, born in Los Montesinos, also worked at both Manchester United and Manchester City Football clubs during his time in the UK.

“While in Manchester I worked at United and City as a Steward.

“The job lead to meeting some of the clubs’ players, including City’s Argentinian ace Sergio Agùero,” said Juan, who studied Euphonium at Escola Superior de Musica de Cataluyna in 2009.

Montesinos Musical Group President Jose Francisco Paredes Pérez said: “We have many local musicians, like Juan Javier Serrano on our staff, a virtuoso in his specialty.

“After several months of hard work, on March 26, we received our well-deserved award in Alicante.

“Our Musical Group is mostly amateur and the necessary level needed to win an award like this requires many hours of dedication.

“We have to thank first of all, being in the hands of a great professional like José Vicente Pérez Pérez and of course our many local musicians.

“We are very happy and satisfied, we do not stop. Now we prepare our big event in Valencia in October.”
