On Sunday morning around two thousand people, all residing in the city, demonstrated in Torrevieja’s Plaza de la Constitucion, calling for the European Union (EU) and NATO to act to defend their country from the Russian invasion.

Most of the demonstrators were Ukrainian citizens although there were also plenty of Russians among the large crowd, along with many others from neighbouring European countries.

There was also plenty of support for Ukraine from the Sporting community across the world  with the Sporting Gijon left-back Vasyl Kravets saying that he is ready to go to war to help his country along with former heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko, the mayor of Ukraine’s capital of Kyiv, who also plans to take up arms to defend against Russia’s invasion along with his brother, Wladimir.
