The councillor for health in the Elche municipality, Carlos Sánchez, has announced that the town hall is to purchase 35 heart defibrillators for distribution to public buildings in the area.

There are currently 4 devices available in the city and the plan would be to increase this to 15 in the first year, eventually reaching the goal of 35 by the end of the project period, eventually reaching locations such as Torrellano, El Altet, La Marina and La Hoya.

The devices cost between 4,000 and 5,000 euro to buy and can be rented for 58€ per month.

There will also be a training and awareness campaign, once the devices are installed, so that these life-saving units can be used effectively.
