Cambiemos Orihuela has denounced what it describes as a lack of transparency in staff recruitment processes at two municipal companies: Orihuela Cultural and Servicio de Gestión Medioambiental de Orihuela.
The group says it wants to know what is happening with the selection process for the manager of Orihuela Cultural, as no clear information has been provided about its current status. In the case of Servicio de Gestión Medioambiental, several jobs were advertised last summer, but applicants have reportedly received no updates on the progress of the recruitment process.
According to Cambiemos Orihuela, some candidates who asked the Town Hall about the Orihuela Cultural manager role were told the process had been halted. However, the group says this contradicts statements made in the municipal plenary session, where the councillor for Culture reportedly said the process was still ongoing.
For the environmental management company, Cambiemos says many interested applicants have been waiting since last summer without any response or explanation from the council.
Leticia Pertegal, spokesperson for Cambiemos Orihuela and a board member of both municipal companies, said the situation shows “non-management” and a culture of opacity within the companies. She called it unacceptable that job candidates are being left without information about recruitment processes.
Pertegal also suggested that the lack of clarity raises concerns that some posts could be reserved for people close to the Partido Popular. She said political favours should not be paid for with public money and demanded full transparency, as well as a swift resolution of the selection procedures.
Cambiemos Orihuela is calling for all candidates, and the boards of directors of the municipal companies, to be given clear information about the status of the recruitment processes.
