Calpe, Spain — The Civil Guard has identified four suspects—two men and two women aged 40 to 50—for allegedly carrying out a series of thefts targeting cosmetics and luxury perfumes in Calpe. Officers recovered around €2,000 worth of high-end beauty products stolen from five local stores.
The group is accused of using so-called Faraday bags—handbags lined with aluminium materials designed to block security sensors—to bypass anti-theft gates. During a vehicle search, police seized the modified bags along with perfumes, exclusive cosmetics, and clothing items believed to be destined for resale on the black market.
All four individuals have prior records for similar offences. They were released pending a fast-track trial, and the case has been submitted to the Denia duty court. The operation forms part of the Civil Guard’s Safe Commerce Plan, which increases patrols in busy shopping areas to prevent theft and shoplifting.
