On May 13, 2025, the Town Council of Benejúzar announced a series of measures aimed at improving local educational and sports facilities. According to Mayor Vicente Cases, the initiatives reflect the municipality’s continued commitment to enhancing public services and infrastructure for the benefit of its residents.
One of the key actions approved is the construction of an inclusive playground at the CEIP Antonio Sequeros school. This project, which emerged from the Participatory Budget and was selected by popular vote, involves a €25,000 investment to improve the accessibility and functionality of the schoolyard. It will feature a sloped area with integrated play elements that connect different zones of the playground, making it safer and more enjoyable for students. The work will be carried out in phases over approximately two months, with the possibility of future expansions that may include additional play structures or seating overlooking the sports courts.
Another important decision was the awarding of the management contract for the town’s heated indoor swimming pool. The new contract includes the development of a web application to simplify access and ticket purchases, along with special discounts for residents under 30. It also guarantees professional maintenance of the facilities, employment of qualified staff, and a sports program accessible to all users. Mayor Cases emphasized that this is a key service that meets both current and future needs, ensuring a modern and efficient operation that promotes physical activity, health, and leisure within the community.
The council also approved the initial steps toward improving the climate control and ventilation systems at the IES Benejúzar high school. A technical project will be drafted, with a budget of €19,174, to install a modern system that meets current air quality and comfort standards. The plan also includes upgrading the existing electrical system to accommodate the new equipment’s energy demands. This improvement responds to issues identified in previous technical assessments and aims to significantly enhance the learning environment for students and teachers alike.
Mayor Vicente Cases praised these developments as a clear sign of the local government’s commitment to the well-being of the community, stressing that the improvements in educational infrastructure and sports facilities reflect a shared vision of a more modern, cohesive, and high-quality public service network in Benejúzar.
