The Orihuela Council has launched its 2025 Summer Sports Schools, offering over 600 spots for children aged 5 to 12. Activities will run from June 23 to July 25 at two main venues: Espeñetas Sports Complex and Palacio del Agua.
The program includes sports, swimming, workshops, excursions, and free early drop-off (from 8:00 a.m.). It is inclusive, with places for children with disabilities. Weekly sessions cost €45 (or €36 for the 4-day week), and registration opens May 13 and 14 via deportes.orihuela.es.
Councillor for Sport, Víctor Sigüenza, unveiled details of the program. It includes a wide range of sports, water-based, recreational, and educational activities aimed at schoolchildren. The goal is to provide healthy, inclusive, and accessible leisure alternatives during the summer months.
The program will run from June 23 to July 25, across two locations: Espeñetas Sports Complex and Palacio del Agua. It targets children aged 5 to 12 years, and, as in previous years, spaces are reserved for children with disabilities. Activities include sports, swimming, workshops, and excursions. The schedule runs from 9:00 to 14:00, with a free early drop-off service starting at 8:00 to help families.
The theme this year is “Sports, Friends, and Adventures”, promising an unforgettable summer experience.
The schools will operate over five weekly sessions:
- June 23–27
- June 30–July 4
- July 7–11
- July 14–18 (excluding July 17)
- July 21–25
Registration: Opens May 13 and 14 from 9:00 a.m. at deportes.orihuela.es.
Prices: €45 for full weeks; €36 for the 4-day week.
Other Summer Activities:
- Open House Week (June 2–6): Free sessions for students to try out municipal sports (e.g., football, tennis, basketball, padel, athletics, swimming), with transport included.
- Nature-Based Activities:
- Golf Initiation: In collaboration with Vistabella Golf, for students in grades 3–6 and 1st–2nd year of secondary school. Takes place June 9–13 and June 16–20. Cost: €25. School registration starts May 19.
- Water Sports: Sailing, kayaking, and paddle surfing at Stella Maris (Cabo Roig) and Dehesa de Campoamor clubs. For students in grades 5–6 and 1st–4th year of secondary school. Dates and registration as above. Cost: €30.
- “End of School Year at the Pool” (June 5–17): Free pool days for schools at Palacio del Agua and other local pools. Schools can register via email: deporteescolar@orihuela.es.
Councillor Sigüenza emphasized the program is about more than just sports—it supports family balance, education, and health, noting that over 150 students are currently enjoying the 2025 multi-adventure camp at the Alarcón reservoir in Cuenca, kayaking, paddle surfing, hiking, paintball, and orienteering.
