Murcia, April 24, 2025 – The Reina de la Huerta 2025, Alba Franco, along with her court of honor, paid a special visit today to the regional headquarters of the Guardia Civil in Vista Alegre, Murcia. The group was welcomed as part of a guided tour showcasing the daily operations and specialized services of Spain’s historic law enforcement institution.

Who is the Reina de la Huerta?

The Reina de la Huerta (“Queen of the Orchard”) is a cultural ambassador and symbolic figurehead of Murcia’s Spring Festival (Fiestas de Primavera), a deeply rooted local celebration that pays tribute to the region’s agricultural traditions, folklore, and community identity. Chosen for her grace, knowledge of local customs, and connection to Murcian heritage, the Reina represents the spirit of the festival throughout the year at official events and ceremonies.

Inside the Guardia Civil

Welcomed at midday by Lieutenant Colonel Diego Mercader and Commander Manuel Callejas from the Guardia Civil’s regional command, the Reina and her court toured the facilities and were introduced to the wide-ranging roles and responsibilities of the corps.

A highlight of the visit was a live, behind-the-scenes look at the Complex Operations Center (COC), where emergency calls (specifically via 062, the Guardia Civil’s direct line) are received and managed. The group observed how incidents are processed and how patrols are coordinated in real time across the Region of Murcia.
