The contract for security staff to protect municipal buildings in Orihuela, including the town hall on the Orihuela Costa, has been awarded after being put to tender in August of last year.

The Catral-based company Vigiprot has been awarded the work, after their bid of 249,362.34 euro (without taxes) per year, with a period of two years, came in at 3% below the tender price.

The contract, which was published on the Contracting Portal last August, aims to provide surveillance by unarmed private agents of the El Greco building, the Orihuela Costa City Hall and the Prop building, as well as for the acts and events that the Council determines.

Among the services required of the contractor, is the protection of movable and immovable property and the people who may be in them, control of entries and exits, identity controls at the access or inside the town hall, orientation and support, carrying out checks every two hours in the buildings subject to the contract outside of public service hours, highlight any deficiencies or collaborate with self-protection, evacuation and evacuation plans in case of emergency. Also proceed daily with the opening and closing of the facilities.

In September, all bidders had the opportunity to visit first-hand the facilities contemplated in the specifications. Two other companies participated in the contest: Tres Punto Uno Compañía de Seguridad and the UTE Viriato Seguridad-Servicios Auxiliares Viriato. Both were six and seven points behind Vigiprot, which obtained 85 points.

The Catral company presented as improvements 150 hours per security guard at no cost to the Council and 300 hours per service assistant annually at no cost for additional services to be determined.
