As part of their election manifesto, the Los Verdes in Torrevieja have announced a “shock plan” for Social Services, with the intention of making the town more inclusive.

Because Torrevieja is well known as being a multicultural city, which is home to citizens of different countries, races and creeds, “making us richer in the diversity of knowledge that we acquire”, they say, Torrevieja needs to recover the open character of its origins and integrate the new inhabitants into socio-cultural policies, from their autonomy and based on their initiatives.

To do this, the greens feel the solution is to strengthen social policies by promoting their local resources, solving the deficiencies they suffer from and improving their coordination, developing an open, inclusive and above all human Torrevieja, and this is the basis of their project for the future.

“We have more than thirty years of governments that, despite their triumphalism, have managed to be recognised as the poorest city in Spain, a medal that we must remove from our chests”, pointed out Israel Muñoz, mayoral candidate for Los Verdes. To do this, they will work by implementing a SHOCK PLAN IN SOCIAL SERVICES as the axis to reverse this situation, implementing several lines of action:

Work collaboratively with other administrations, regardless of political ideology to obtain more social resources for the municipality, opting for all available subsidies and not refusing to process them due to ideological differences, as is currently the case.

For those people who lack the necessary knowledge in administration to obtain documents and aid to which they are entitled, we will make all the necessary procedures as easy as possible for them.

Reform the regulations that limit our council in terms of social spending, promoting policies that lead us to it.

They consider it extremely important to collaborate in international cooperation projects, so they will fight so that the municipality can contribute at least 0.7% of its budget for these purposes.

“In short, the multiculturalism of our city gives us a unique opportunity to grow and demonstrate that it is possible to change this trend of many years of involution, for one of constant improvement. Achieving this goal depends on everyone’s ability to understand its importance,” the spokesperson concluded.
