A squad of 11 players from C F Rojales (Walking Football) recently played a friendly match at Santa Pola, against a strong Gran Alacant team. The match was played over 4 quarters and under difficult conditions with an extremely strong wind.

The first quarter had Gran Alacant on top, with Rojales hampered by having a player sent off and having a penalty awarded against them. A great save by goalkeeper Geoff Norton kept the scores level, but Gran Alacant quickly made their advantage pay and took the lead. They then scored a second goal in the next quarter to give Rojales an uphill task.

Rojales started the third quarter in better vein and with the numbers equal, although there was no further score. Going into the final quarter, Rojales were determined to get something and pulled a goal back through Tony Cimino. Rojales were then awarded a penalty of their own, which was expertly despatched by Manfred Dorge to make the final score 2-2.

The match was played in an excellent spirit, well refereed by John Pratt, and both teams could be happy with the finalscore.
