Registration for the 2026 Summer School programme in Orihuela will run from May 1 to 24, with activities taking place across 15 schools in the town centre, surrounding districts and Orihuela Costa.

The initiative, organised by the City Council, is designed to help families balance work and childcare during the summer holidays while offering children a structured programme of educational and recreational activities.

Education Councillor Vicente Pina said this year’s edition is aligned with the “Educating Cities” model, with a focus on positive coexistence and personal development. The programme aims to combine leisure with values such as respect, cooperation, empathy and emotional awareness.

The Summer School will run in two phases. The first, from June 22 to July 16, is themed “Travelling the World” and will see children explore different countries and cultures through games and activities. The second phase, from July 20 to August 14, titled “Healthy Life Mission” will focus on promoting physical activity, balanced nutrition and emotional wellbeing.

Activities will include arts and crafts, sports, group games, water activities, music and cooperative workshops, with a strong emphasis on participation and engagement. Each week will introduce new challenges and themes, alongside an opening event and a final celebration.

Sessions will run from 8:45am to 1:45pm each day.

Programme coordinator Alfonso García, from provider Diverty School, said registration will be handled online via a dedicated Telegram channel, with in-person support also available.

The programme remains affordable, costing €40 per session or €80 for both, helping ensure broad access for local families.

Social Welfare Councillor Agustina Rodríguez highlighted the scheme’s inclusive approach, confirming that places will be reserved for vulnerable families, assessed by social services, to ensure equal access.

The Summer School will be hosted in 15 schools across the municipality, reinforcing its position as one of Orihuela’s most in-demand family support initiatives, combining education, leisure and social inclusion.
