The Tourism Department of Orihuela has launched its programme of guided routes and visits for May 2026, offering residents and visitors a diverse calendar of cultural, historical and gastronomic experiences across the city.
The programme, which requires advance booking due to limited places, begins on May 1 with the “Cultural Legacy” route starting from Plaza del Carmen. Throughout the month, participants can enjoy literary events, themed walking tours, sensory workshops and guided visits to some of Orihuela’s most iconic landmarks.
Highlights include a literary meeting with author Ana Villanueva at the Casa Museo Miguel Hernández, a modernist architecture route ending with a tasting session, and the “Huéleme” sensory workshop. History-focused tours such as “The Three Gothic Sites” and “Baroque at the Sacred Art Museum” also feature prominently.
The programme also embraces nature and local identity, with guided visits to the Palmeral de Orihuela, alongside food and wine tastings showcasing regional products. The month concludes on May 31 with the “San Isidro Murals” route.
Tourism Councillor Gonzalo Montoya said the wide-ranging programme demonstrates that “Orihuela offers something for everyone,” as the city continues to promote year-round, high-quality tourism.
Bookings can be made via the official website, with the initiative aimed at boosting the town’s cultural appeal and highlighting its rich heritage.
