The Inbetweeners Golf Club launched its 2025 home games season at the scenic El Plantio golf course. Despite the wintry chill, 22 hardy members layered up and embraced the challenge of the day. The format was a “lucky dip,” where players were randomly paired, and their combined Stableford scores determined who would claim bragging rights.

The frosty start delayed tee times, making patience a key part of the day. Players carefully navigated the slick fairways and slower greens, staying focused on their approach shots and short game. By the time the last group holed out, everyone was ready for a well-earned warm beverage in the clubhouse, followed by the presentation hosted by club captain Paul Saxton.

The captain kicked things off by welcoming two new members to the club before announcing the nearest-the-pin winners, who displayed pinpoint accuracy on the par threes:

Hole 7: Kicki Modin

Hole 9: Dave Slightam

Hole 14: Jimmy Fegan

Hole 18: Ruud Meggelen (one of the club’s newest members).

Jimmy Fegan and Les Pirie shared the two-pot, and each delivered a touch of magic with their putters.

Despite the cold conditions and slower pace, some excellent scores were posted. Charlotte Tranberg and Kicki Modin took third place on countback with a steady 70 points. Jimmy Scott and Frank Cullen, also with 70 points, edged them out for second place. The winning pair, with 74 points, were Jimmy Fegan and Lesley Cullen.

Well done to all the day’s winners and to all the members for making it an enjoyable day.
