Gran Alacant is now home to a new calisthenics park, located at 71 calle Creta, next to the dog park and children’s play area in this municipal green zone.
For those of you who don’t know (and to be honest, we looked it up on Wikipedia), callisthenics is a form of strength training that utilises an individual’s body weight as resistance to perform multi-joint, compound movements with little or no equipment.
Mayor Loreto Serrano, together with the councillors of Gran Alacant, Óscar Valenzuela and Borja Merino, the councillor for Sports Ángel Piedecausa and the councillor for Parks and Gardens, Encarni Ramírez, have visited the already completed installation which was opened prior to the official launch last weekend.
In this new sports area, a circuit has been installed consisting of several elements that involve all muscle groups, with an explanatory panel that indicates how to perform the different exercises and tips to avoid possible muscle injuries.
