The fiery blast that rocked the Casa Javi bar in Lo Pagán, San Pedro del Pinatar, was no freak accident , it was a deliberate act, investigators now believe.
According to bombshell findings from the Civil Guard’s elite fire unit, someone intentionally sliced the rubber tubing of a butane gas cylinder inside the venue, triggering a massive explosion that injured around 20 people and sent shockwaves through the coastal town.
TWO WOMEN FIGHT FOR LIFE
Two women remain in critical condition at Murcia’s Virgen de la Arrixaca Hospital. One is the woman who rented the premises, she suffered horrific burns and remains in the hospital’s specialized Burns Unit.
The other victim is an innocent passerby, hit by the blast after shopping at a nearby market. She required emergency surgery and is now in the ICU.
CRIME SCENE OR ACCIDENT? EXPERTS SAY FOUL PLAY
Once firefighters extinguished the inferno, investigators from the Civil Guard’s Fire Investigation Team (ESIN) moved in. Their forensic sweep uncovered a shocking detail: a butane cylinder with its rubber line cleanly and intentionally cut. This wasn’t wear and tear. This was sabotage.
Sources inside the investigation say the force of the blast moved outward, confirming what witnesses saw: the explosion started inside the building.

BAR WITH A BAD REPUTATION
Neighbours told reporters the bar had long been a trouble spot, plagued with fights and already slapped with multiple fines. On the day of the explosion, it was closed, and only the woman who rented it was inside.
The original owner of Casa Javi? He wasn’t even in Murcia.
MYSTERIOUS NIGHT ON THE BEACH
In another twist, just hours before the explosion, local police spotted the same woman, the one who rented the bar, wandering on the beach, apparently under the influence. She has a criminal record and is known to authorities, but was let go after officers determined she wasn’t committing a crime.
Now, she lies unconscious in hospital. Investigators are desperate to speak with her, convinced her testimony could unlock the mystery behind what looks more and more like an attempted arson attack gone horribly wrong.
WHO TAMPERED WITH THE GAS? AND WHY?
As the town reels from the incident, the big questions remain: Who cut the gas line? Was it revenge, sabotage, or something more sinister?
One thing’s for sure, the explosion that shattered the calm of Lo Pagán was no accident.
It would appear that this story is just heating up.
