Redován’s Mayor, Nely Ruiz, has publicly supported Councillor Marisol Ibáñez in response to criticism from an opposition group regarding the local police’s 24-hour service. The mayor and councillor clarified that the police service is active around the clock, dismissing claims of its suspension as false and misleading.

They explained that a recent lapse in the night shift was an isolated and exceptional case, not due to poor planning. Ibáñez also addressed rumors about a police incident, stating that the matter was handled by the Guardia Civil according to protocol and criticized the spread of misinformation.

Ibáñez pointed out that high staff turnover is common in small municipalities, as officers often transfer to other towns for personal or professional reasons—something that public officials cannot prevent. While she acknowledged that criticism is part of politics, she emphasized that it must be based on facts, not disinformation or political opportunism.

Mayor Ruiz echoed this support, condemning the opposition’s demand for Ibáñez’s resignation as baseless and politically harmful. She accused them of creating unnecessary alarm and manipulating facts in a way that undermines public trust and safety.
