“I’m watching you” — Victim terrorised by stalker ex in late-night blitz of pervy phone calls

Murcia, June 13, 2025 — A 20-year-old man has been arrested in Murcia after waging a terrifying harassment campaign against his ex-girlfriend, bombarding her with over 150 anonymous phone calls, some sexual in nature, and all designed to intimidate, humiliate, and control.

The twisted stalker — who refused to move on after the breakup — hid his number, dialled at all hours, and whispered vile comments, even letting her know he was watching her every move. Sometimes, he just stayed on the line in creepy silence.

The case, part of Operation ‘Queramin’, was cracked by the Guardia Civil’s specialist Arroba cybercrime unit, who managed to trace the masked calls back to the suspect, despite his attempts to stay in the shadows.

The nightmare began earlier this year when the terrified woman went to the Guardia Civil claiming she was being relentlessly harassed. She described how the calls — more than 150 in total — came day and night, leaving her on edge and living in fear.

Some of the calls were laced with sexual overtones, others simply let her know she was being monitored — a clear sign the stalker was trying to dominate her from a distance.

Authorities confirmed that the man had previously been in a romantic relationship with the victim. With the arrest, Guardia Civil immediately activated their VIOGEN protocol — a specialised system to protect women suffering from gender-based violence.

He now faces serious charges of coercion and stalking under Spain’s gender violence laws. The investigation continues, but officials stress: no form of harassment will be tolerated.

A Guardia Civil spokesperson said: “No woman should live in fear. This kind of obsessive, controlling behaviour is not love — it’s abuse, and we will act swiftly and decisively.”
