Armed thief flees empty-handed after brave workers fight back in Águilas robbery gone wrong

Murcia, May 28, 2025 – A botched gas station robbery in Águilas ended in disaster for a seasoned criminal after two brave employees stood their ground and chased him off, despite being threatened at gunpoint.

The suspect—masked and wielding a fake firearm—stormed into the station on the outskirts of town, demanding cash from the register. But instead of folding, the staff resisted, sparking a struggle that sent the wannabe robber running without a cent.

According to the Guardia Civil and Local Police, the man fled in a stolen car, taken just 48 hours earlier in Terreros-Pulpí (Almería). Surveillance footage and evidence left at the scene quickly linked the suspect to a known repeat offender living in Águilas.

Once identified, authorities launched a full manhunt. Just three days later, local police caught up with him and made the arrest. He now faces charges of attempted robbery with violence and vehicle theft.

The car, a compact sedan, has been recovered and returned to its rightful owner, while the bungling bandit is now behind bars.

From a planned payday to prison in 72 hours—justice moved fast in this gas station showdown.
