Mojácar, May 18, 2025 — This Sunday, Mojácar will honor one of its most cherished traditions with the celebration of San Isidro, the patron saint of farmers. The event, rooted in the town’s agricultural and cultural heritage, will take place around La Fuente (The Fountain) — an emblematic site that transforms each year into a lively hub of festivity, community, and local pride.

The day’s programme begins at 1:00 p.m. with the traditional blessing of San Isidro, a heartfelt ceremony that pays homage to the town’s rural roots. Following this, at 2:00 p.m., the festivities will continue with a midday fair featuring live entertainment by the charanga band Armando Jaelo, bringing upbeat rhythms to the town. The celebration will culminate at 6:00 p.m. with a live concert by La Espartera, setting the tone for an evening of music and community spirit.

Mayor Francisco García emphasized the significance of preserving Mojácar’s identity through events like this:
“San Isidro is more than just a celebration — it reflects our connection to the land, our history, and our community spirit. Mojácar thrives when joy and tradition go hand in hand.”

Councillor for Festivities, Pascual Artero, encouraged broad participation and highlighted the importance of traditional dress:
“This is a day for families, neighbors, and friends to come together. We especially invite Mojácar’s women to proudly wear their regional costumes, as they have done for generations. Let’s celebrate who we are by honoring our customs.”

The Town Council is encouraging everyone to join the festivities and help pass on Mojácar’s traditions to future generations. The celebration of San Isidro is not only an opportunity for joyful gathering but also a moment to reflect on the town’s rural heritage and cultural continuity.
