The professor was honoured at the 40th Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) Congress held in conjunction with the 83rd Annual Conference of the All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS)
Dr. Jorge Alió travelled to New Delhi to participate in the 40th Congress of the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO), which was held from 3rd to 6th April in conjunction with the 83rd Annual Conference of the All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS), with more than 14,000 delegates. In this way, the Professor of Ophthalmology and Honorary Researcher of the Miguel Hernández University (UMH) of Elche was able to present the latest advances in lenses to solve problems in refractive surgery, presbyopia and myopia, among other topics of interest.
At this important event for visual health, the international expert in anterior segment gave a talk on “Accommodative IOLs are the future of lens-based presbyopia correction” in the session “In search of a solution to presbyopia: what options do we have today?”. Prof. Jorge Alió also participated in the CSO symposium “Advances in anterior segment analysis with OCT technology” with a talk on “The MS 39 to guide the diagnosis and surgical indications” and chaired a session entitled “Five pearls in cataract and ocular comorbidity”
Dr. Alió, who is ranked 12th of the world’s 100 most influential and inspiring ophthalmologists in “The Ophthalmologist Power List 2023”, also presented “New emerging alternatives in phakic IOL lenses” in the session “What’s new in custom LASIK and phakic IOLs for myopia with astigmatism”. In addition, he shared his knowledge on “Refractive lens replacement: its role in modern refractive surgery” in the session “Refractive lens exchange: innovations, outcomes and limitations”.
It is worth mentioning that during the ceremony of the 40th APAO Congress and 83rd AIOS Annual Conference, Jorge Alió received a recognition as international guest as a token of gratitude from the hosts for his long career and contribution to the field of ophthalmology.
