Alicante-Elche Airport has set another passenger record, achieving its best-ever February performance. The airport welcomed 1.17 million passengers, marking a 16.4% increase compared to February 2024.

With this impressive growth, it seems that 2025 will be another record-breaking year for the airport. After crossing the one-million-passenger threshold for the first time in January, February continued the trend with nearly 1.2 million passengers—a historic high for the month. The total number of passengers for February was 1,166,789, which represents an increase of about 143,000 passengers over January and sets the second consecutive monthly record this year.

So far in 2025, Alicante-Elche Airport has seen 2,224,003 passengers, which is a 13.4% increase over the same period in 2024. Flight operations also rose by 14.5%, with 14,698 movements recorded.

The international market continues to be the primary driver of growth, with a 17.6% rise in international travellers compared to February 2024. International passengers accounted for nearly 86% of the total traffic, with 999,022 people flying to or from the airport. Domestic travel also saw a boost, with a 9.8% increase, reaching 166,991 passengers.

The United Kingdom remains the largest source of international travellers, accounting for over a third of the international traffic, with 361,086 passengers. The Netherlands (83,047 passengers) and Poland (76,864 passengers) hold the second and third spots, with Poland seeing particularly strong growth, becoming the third-largest source of passengers for the airport for the first time in a month. Poland’s market is expected to reach 847,000 travellers in 2024, ranking sixth overall. Germany (76,269 passengers) and Belgium (65,227 passengers) round out the top markets.

Alicante-Elche Airport also saw a surge in flight operations, with 7,575 flights in February—an 18.9% increase from the previous year.

Looking ahead, the airport anticipates another record-breaking peak season. AENA has announced that 14.7 million seats are scheduled for the period from the end of March to the end of October. The United Kingdom will continue to be the top destination, while Germany, with 15 different routes and 420,000 seats, will also contribute to the airport’s growth during this period.
