The Civil Guard has arrested three individuals who broke into a home in Puente del Congosto (Salamanca), where they tied up, beat, and threatened a married couple with a firearm.
The home invasion occurred in the early hours of February 24, when three masked intruders, armed with a shotgun and several bladed weapons, stormed the property and forcibly removed the couple from their bed.
The husband was subjected to repeated beatings and threats, including blows from the firearm’s buttstock, as the assailants demanded to know where valuables, jewellery, and cash were hidden.
When their attempts were unsuccessful, they locked the couple in a room under threats and spent over an hour ransacking the house. The criminals eventually escaped with family jewellery and cash.
Around 8:00 a.m., the victims managed to free themselves and contacted the Civil Guard, which immediately launched a search operation in nearby towns.
The extensive manhunt involved officers from Salamanca and Ávila, drones from the Pegaso team, tactical units (Usecic) from Ávila, an aerial service helicopter, and search dogs from the Barco de Ávila mountain rescue team.
The operation revealed that the suspects had abandoned their getaway vehicle and hidden in a wooded area near El Tejado de Béjar (Salamanca). By mid-morning, all three individuals—two adults and a minor—were arrested. Two of them were brothers with extensive criminal records for property-related offenses.
Simultaneously, Civil Guard officers from the Judicial Police Unit (UOPJ) in Salamanca searched two rural homes in the area. They recovered all the stolen goods and discovered a sawed-off shotgun.
During the searches, a fourth suspect, a 21-year-old woman, was arrested for her role as an accomplice.
After being presented before the court and the juvenile prosecutor, the two adult suspects were remanded in custody, while legal measures were taken regarding the minor.
