Despite their political partners, VOX, claiming that gender violence doesn’t exist, the regional government of the PP has reported that the free helpline, 900 580 888, created more than two decades ago to assist victims of domestic violence, has received a million calls since its creation.

According to the annual report, this service has answered an average of 5,000 phone calls per month from victims of violence against women or from family members or people close to them. In addition, this free number answered 68,148 calls during 2023 and a total of 17,462 calls in the first quarter of 2024.

To give an indication of how the issue has grown, despite the denial of some, in 2010 the service answered 16,553 calls in the year, 517 more than in the same period in 2009 and almost the total for the first quarter of 2024, then receiving an average of 2,700 per month, now almost doubled.

This telephone line is one of the assistance resources of the Network of Women’s Centres at the service of women who suffer or may suffer the consequences of violence. It offers victims immediate and remote attention and ensures a rapid response 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and wherever they are.

It allows women who are victims of violence to be attended to by staff specifically prepared to provide an adequate response to their situation, as well as the mobilisation of human resources and contact with the Women’s Centre to which the victim can go, if necessary.

From this service, in addition, permanent monitoring is carried out and regular contact is maintained with the users in case it is necessary to intervene and if the circumstances so advise.
