The presence of beach bars this Easter on the beaches of Orihuela is by no means guaranteed. The promise made by the PP-Vox council is still to be fulfilled after more than a year has passed since they last operated on the coastal landscape when the previous councillor of the beaches, Antonio Sánchez (Cs) chose not to extend the contract.

The contract has been back in the bidding arena since last November, with the Contracting Committee still in the offer evaluation phase, as they have not yet finished opening all the envelopes. This is a complex contract, since the new council has chosen to divide the beach bars into three lots, with the addition of water sports as a fourth.

Municipal spokespersons, however, indicate that, for the moment, they can guarantee that, at least, there will be walkways and toilets, for which they will choose to make an independent and urgent contract, since their installation has previously been the responsibility of the beach bar concessionaire.

They have also confirmed that there will be a lifeguard service as the contract is still in force. Meanwhile, the Cabo Roig Neighbourhood Association has already requested that the public toilets be repaired or renovated due to the high deterioration they have suffered in recent years.
