The president of Valencia, Ximo Puig, has stated that he is in favour of the mandatory use of a mask outdoors because “it is a symbol that the pandemic is among us”.

This was stated in an interview this week after several communities have requested the withdrawal of this rule.

Puig stated that masks “have undoubtedly been one of the key elements to overcome the pandemic” and “the great protector we have had”, while insisting that the coronavirus “continues among us”.

For this reason, he believes that “wearing the mask on the street is not a problem in principle and warns that it is a symbol that the pandemic is among us.”

Thus, he stated that “the sooner it can be removed from the street, the better”, but has advocated “managing the pandemic with prudence”.
