The councillor of Festivities, Mariola Rocamora, gave details on Wednesday morning of the itinerary that will be used by the Cabalgatas de Reyes, the Three Kings, following their arrival in Orihuela City on Friday.

“It is an exciting and highly anticipated event every year,” she said, “and from the Department of Festivities we intend that the little ones thoroughly enjoy the celebrations.”

The Magi will arrive in Orihuela on Friday, January 4, with their pages and assistants. The first visit they will make will be to the Hospital de la Vega Baja, to see the children, all of whom will receive a gift from their Majesties The Kings. “This visit has become a tradition and the Magi always want to see the children who are in the hospital at this time of the year,” said Rocamora.

On Saturday morning 5 January, the Magi will visit the Orihuela Town Hall, where the mayor, Emilio Bascuñana, together with many of his councillors, will receive them. “The mayor will give the key to the city to the Magi so they can go to all the homes in Orihuela to leave their gifts,” she added.

After the reception in the town hall, the Magi will ride by camel through the streets of Orihuela to the Teatro Circo ‘Atanasio Díe’, where they will greet the children, who will be also able to talk and deliver their letters in person. “This act has become a very popular event and is sure to be attended by many people.

The final stop in the morning will be at the Oriol Occupational Centre.

After lunch, the Three Kings will visit the Old People’s Home in Los Dolses on the Orihuela Costa, where they will also deliver their presents.  At 5pm they will attend the Three Kings’ Parade in Orihuela Costa, which will begin at the Plaza Antonio Vicea, close to the town hall, and end at the La Zenia Boulevard Shopping Centre, where a reception will be held for the children. “This parade will feature the characters from Toy Story, with dancers, angels, and many more mystic and historical figures.

At 6pm the Three Wise Men will be in Orihuela, for the start of the Three Kings Parade from Las Espeñetas to Calle San Gregorio. “It will be an exciting cavalcade, a colourful spectacle, with many dancers, with vibrancy and with a lot of tradition, ideally suited for the little ones”.

This year the characters from Frozen will attend the parade. There will also be shepherds and animals, classic crafts, market stalls, an Arab souk, the shooting star and of course their Majesties.
