The toy store chain Poly Juguetes has closed around thirty stores in Spain, after the firm filed for bankruptcy a few months ago and a redundancy plan (ERE) affecting 169 workers.
The Juguettos brand, based in Villena, acquired 240,000 euro in a public auction all the brands, brand images, patents and designs, web domain and the rest of Imaginarium’s commercial assets, while announcing its return to the market in 2025.
“The Poly Juguetes and The Entertainer España stores are closing forever. It has been a pleasure to have had your loyalty over all these years and to have been able to be part of your lives and those of your children,” according to the company’s corporate website.
The toy company has stressed that over the years it has “always” tried to “give its best” and hopes to have “contributed to creating a better world, filling it with illusion and magic through toys.” “Without further ado, we would like to thank you for having been by our side for all these years,” the statement reads.
Poly Juguetes is part of Teal Group Holdings, a family of brands that also includes The Entertainer, Early Learning Centre and Addo and around thirty stores in Spain, as well as its e-commerce.
The toy sector is having a particularly tough time recently in Spain, as we have already seen changes in Toys-R-Us, Playmobil significantly reducing their presence in the Alicante province, and now the closure of Poly Juguetes, and Imaginarium stores.
Poly Juguetes had a branch in the Habaneras Centre in Torrevieja, which closed down some years ago and is now the Pepco store, the closest then being in the Nueva Condomina Shopping Centre in Murcia.
