Alicante-Elche Airport has been selected as one of the first destinations to be served by Fly2Galicia, a new Spanish airline based in Santiago de Compostela.
The carrier plans to connect Galicia with eight destinations across Spain and Europe, including Alicante, Granada, Zaragoza, Venice, Milan, Prague, Munich and Brussels.
Flights between Santiago and Alicante will operate throughout the year, providing a regular alternative to the limited seasonal service currently available.
The new route will help fill the gap created by Ryanair’s withdrawal from Santiago Airport following a dispute over charges imposed by airport operator Aena. The decision affected several connections, including flights to the Costa Blanca.
Although Vueling had previously planned to operate the route in 2025, Ryanair currently remains the only airline flying directly between Santiago and Alicante, with services limited to the peak holiday season.
Fly2Galicia will operate three flights in each direction every week, with the new service scheduled to begin on December 3. One-way fares will start from €20.
Flights will operate on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Departures from Santiago are scheduled for 10.50am on Mondays and Thursdays and 7am on Saturdays.
Return flights will leave Alicante at 1.15pm on Mondays and Thursdays and at 9.25am on Saturdays.
The year-round connection is expected to benefit passengers travelling between Galicia and the Costa Blanca for tourism, business or family visits. It will also strengthen Alicante Airport’s domestic network while providing Santiago passengers with direct access to one of Spain’s most popular coastal destinations.
