Roda has always been one of the best presented courses in the region and, true to form, was in great shape or the second round of our Eclectic Cup.
Although the greens had recently been spiked, they were fast and firm and, for many players, difficult to read. With the rest of the course in its usual fine form and near-perfect playing conditions (albeit a little warm for the later tee times), scores were predictably close.
With a strong start to our Eclectic Cup in February, everyone was looking to improve on their scores.
All of the Nearest the Pin prizes were claimed, although one was later disallowed due to the winner competing in the wrong category. Remember, the NTP category is based on your INDEX handicap, not your ‘slope-adjusted’ on-course handicap.

Best Net on hole 4 was won by Malcolm Fitter, with a spectacular net HOLE IN ONE, winning a bottle of Vodka.
Best Front 9 was won by Martyn Johnston, with 19 points

With only 1 point separating our top 4 places and 3rd and 4th place contested by a number of players, a few missed out on the prizes through countback.
1st Place – Ian Connell, with 36 pts (countback)

3rd Place – Ken Carine, with 35 pts (countback)
4th Place – Mike Leyland, with 35 pts
Congratulations to our overall winner, Ian Connell, who received a voucher for one free round of golf with AGS.

The captain’s chosen charity for 2026 is AACC – La Asociación Alicante para la lucha Contra el Cancer. This year’s fund now stands at €751.
The captain had the great pleasure of introducing Maria Wilson B.E.M.
Maria is the President of the Pink Ladies, a well-known fundraising group supporting the AACC, and a strong supporter of Cancer Research and Early Detection. Maria gave a short but informative talk about what the AACC do and how they help everyone in the community with support and subsidised screening.
The captain thanked Maria for her hard work and Sam and the members for their continued support of this great charity.

Our next event is at Las Ramblas on 25th June. This is the 3rd round of our Masters Qualifier. Registration is now open for this event and for our Captain vs President competition at Lo Romero on 12th July
