The Ocean Race is set to launch once again from Alicante on 17 January, reinforcing the city’s role as a global sailing hub with an expanded programme of events and a major international summit.
The build-up begins with the Stakeholder Conference (May 26–27), which will bring together over 150 representatives from competing teams, sponsors, and host cities. Held at the Ocean Race Museum and nearby venues, the summit will outline each participant’s role and unveil plans for the race’s key stages, including the record-breaking opening leg from Alicante to Auckland.
Alongside the sporting spectacle, organisers are enhancing the Ocean Live Park experience at Alicante’s Levante dock. Planned activities include:
- An Innovation Day linking local talent with global companies
- A Fan Day offering public interaction with teams
- Guided boat tours, available for the first time
- Concerts, educational programmes, and live entertainment
The event is being coordinated by Society for Digital Transformation Projects, with €2.1 million in contracts already being mobilised to deliver hosting the start.
Looking ahead, Alicante’s position as the race’s primary start venue—having hosted it more than any other city—could extend beyond 2027. The Valencian Government and local authorities are currently negotiating a new long-term agreement with race organisers, aiming to secure continued economic and international visibility for the city.
In essence: Alicante is not only hosting the start of The Ocean Race once again—it is expanding it into a broader international platform combining sport, innovation, and global engagement.
