Murcia authorities have arrested a plastic surgeon for allegedly sexually assaulting a patient under anaesthesia in a private operating room. The incident took place last Thursday at the IMED Virgen de la Fuensanta hospital in Murcia, where the woman, scheduled for breast augmentation, was under sedation.

Two nurses present in the operating room reportedly noticed the doctor acting in a manner they considered sexual and used a mobile phone to record the alleged assault.

The video, now in the possession of the investigating judge, shows the surgeon allegedly penetrating the immobilized patient. Following the incident, the nurses first alerted hospital management before reporting the matter to the police.

The case was subsequently referred to the Family and Women’s Assistance Unit (UFAM) for investigation.

After confirming the suspect’s identity, police arrested him at his mother’s home in Alicante, following which he spent three nights in police custody before appearing at Molina de Segura Court No. 4.

During his hearing, he exercised his right to remain silent. Given the severity of the allegations and the evidence, the judge ordered his pretrial detention without bail. Authorities cited the potential risk of flight, noting that the surgeon is of American origin and operates a clinic in Madrid.

Hospital officials stressed that the doctor was an external consultant and that the operating room had been rented for the procedure, a common practice. IMED Virgen de la Fuensanta emphasized their “absolute cooperation” with the judicial process and indicated they may join the case as a plaintiff, provided it does not conflict with the victim’s interests.

The alleged perpetrator, who describes himself online as a “specialist in Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery,” claims 15 years of experience and lists training in Spain, Brazil, Canada, Taiwan, and Mexico. He has reportedly performed surgeries across Murcia, the Valencian Community, and Madrid, and maintains a significant social media presence, including Instagram and Facebook, where he shares videos explaining his procedures.

The victim, a middle-aged woman, has chosen to pursue legal action, allowing the case to proceed. Investigators and hospital staff have already testified as witnesses. Authorities continue to examine the evidence as the judicial process unfolds.
