Alicante, 11 December 2025 – The Guardia Civil has arrested four men in connection with seven theft-related crimes committed across the municipalities of Agost, Novelda, Ibi, and Onil. Authorities have successfully recovered almost all of the stolen items, which have now been returned to their rightful owners.

The investigation began after a series of incidents in late October. In the early hours of 30 October, the suspects reportedly stole a vehicle in Ibi before driving to Agost, where they broke into an occupied home and made off with a van and an electric bicycle valued at €2,700.

Their spree continued in Agost, where they forced entry into a storage unit and stole a baby stroller worth €1,000, followed by breaking a car window to take a watch valued at €500. Using the stolen van, the group then traveled to Onil, committing another burglary at a local business.

The offenders struck again on 8 November in Novelda, carrying out two more vehicle break-ins and stealing various items.

The Novelda Guardia Civil Investigation Unit took over the case and, through detailed inquiries, determined that all incidents were linked to the same group of suspects. They were identified as four men aged between 24 and 35, several of whom had previous criminal records for similar offenses. Tracking the suspects proved challenging, as some were residing at addresses not registered in official databases. By November, authorities had located and arrested three in Ibi and one in Crevillente.

The suspects have been charged with six counts of burglary and one count of vehicle theft, and most of the stolen property has been recovered. Following their arrests, the men were brought before the Instruction Court of Novelda, which ordered their release under precautionary measures pending trial.

During the investigation, the Local Police of Agost actively assisted the Guardia Civil, helping analyze the collected evidence.

The Guardia Civil urges residents to remain vigilant, always report vehicle break-ins, and avoid leaving valuables in plain sight. Suspected crimes can be reported via phone (062), the AlertCops app, or online through the Guardia Civil’s official websites, streamlining the reporting process.
