Torrevieja, Spain – November 14, 2025 – A shocking robbery gone fatally wrong has left a Swedish man dead and three suspects behind bars. Authorities say the trio dragged the victim with their car after snatching his mobile phone, leaving him critically injured. He died four days later in hospital from his horrific wounds.
The terrifying attack occurred just after 4 a.m. on October 3 in central Torrevieja. The victim and his partner were approached by three people in a car pretending to ask for directions. When the man lifted his phone to show them a location, one of the suspects grabbed the device — and the car sped off, dragging him along the street before crashing into trash containers. His partner desperately called for help as he lay wounded.
The 30-year-old victim was rushed to Elche Hospital, where he remained in critical condition until succumbing to his injuries.
A meticulous joint investigation by the Guardia Civil and Policía Nacional tracked the suspects to a criminal gang based in Alicante, known for violent mobile phone robberies. The suspects, aged 21 and 22, have a history of similar attacks: one snatches the phone while the victim is distracted, and the driver accelerates violently to escape.
After days of investigation, police caught two of the men on November 10 and the third on November 12. They now face charges of homicide, violent robbery, belonging to a criminal group, failing to provide aid, and road safety violations.
On November 13, a judge ordered two of the suspects to remain in prison, while the third was released under strict conditions. The investigation continues under the Torrevieja court.
