As the summer season winds down, Murcia Region International Airport (AIRM) in Corvera is gearing up for its fall-winter program, which will run from October 26 until March 2026. Although this is traditionally the airport’s quieter season, the schedule has been reinforced compared to last year, now offering 11 destinations, including three new routes.
New and Expanded Routes
Of the nine destinations operated last winter, three new routes have been added:
- Tenerife Norte (Canary Islands): Operated by Binter, this service—initially launched in April for the high season—will continue year-round with four weekly flights. It complements the existing Binter connection between Murcia and Gran Canaria established in 2020.
- Bristol (United Kingdom): Newly introduced by EasyJet, this adds to the existing strong UK network.
- Nador (Morocco): Operated by Air Arabia, this is the first route to the Moroccan city from Corvera, replacing previous services to Oujda and Marrakech.
In addition, the airport has increased frequencies on its Barcelona route to better serve domestic passengers. However, flights to Madrid operated by Volotea have been discontinued following the end of regional subsidies. Volotea plans to introduce flights to France next summer.
United Kingdom Remains the Key Market
The UK continues to be the airport’s primary international market, accounting for more than half of all connections along with Ireland. This fall and winter, Corvera will operate routes to:
- Dublin
- Birmingham
- Bristol
- Manchester
- London (Gatwick, Luton, and Stansted)
Ryanair remains the leading airline at Corvera, operating routes to Dublin, Birmingham, Manchester, and London Stansted. Despite cuts elsewhere in Spain—1.8 million seats already reduced due to disputes with Aena and a further 1.2 million potentially on the way—the airline has maintained its full schedule in Murcia. EasyJet operates the remaining UK services, including the new Bristol route.
Passenger Traffic: More International Tourists, Fewer Domestic Travelers
In September, the airport recorded:
- 112,507 passengers — a 2.5% increase compared to September 2024.
- 820 flight operations — up 3.8% year-on-year.
International traffic continues to dominate, with 100,695 passengers (up 6.6%) in September. However, domestic travel saw a decline of 16%, totaling 11,723 passengers.
From January to September, AIRM handled:
- 767,115 passengers — a 2.3% increase from the previous year.
- 5,910 flight movements — up 5.4%.
International travelers grew by 4.5%, highlighting the region’s growing appeal abroad.
