Murcia, October 21, 2025 — The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia, in cooperation with the local police of Caravaca de la Cruz and Calasparra, has arrested seven members of an itinerant criminal group allegedly involved in burglaries. Two vehicles were recovered and returned to their rightful owners.

The investigation began when Caravaca de la Cruz Local Police noticed a suspicious vehicle repeatedly circling a local restaurant, even driving the wrong way. After parking, the occupants entered the establishment. The Civil Guard confirmed the vehicle had been stolen in Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid) in July, prompting a joint operation.

Officers noted that, although they arrived in the same car, the suspects sat separately in pairs or small groups to avoid appearing connected. When they noticed police presence, a man and a woman went to the bathroom, hiding the car keys and other incriminating objects.

Upon being questioned, none of the suspects carried identification. Once identified, police discovered they had lengthy criminal histories, mainly for property crimes across various Spanish provinces.

Two members had travelled by taxi from Calasparra, where they stayed at a rural house using a stolen identity. They were found with a bag containing balaclavas, gloves, knives, screwdrivers, and tools used to force locks. A rental car they failed to return was also found near the rural property by Calasparra Police.

Investigators believe this itinerant group was seeking a base or new targets in the northwestern Murcia region.

Seven people — six men and one woman, aged 20 to 27 and originally from Madrid and Toledo — were arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft, misappropriation, and identity fraud. Both recovered vehicles have been returned to their owners.
