A man on Europol’s Most Wanted list has been arrested by National Police officers in Pilar de la Horadada. The Hungarian national was wanted under a European Arrest Warrant for 15 counts of fraud and document falsification and now faces over 22 years in prison.
The charges stem from a series of crimes committed in 2019, when the fugitive established a logistics company under false pretences. The business, supposedly dedicated to the transport and shipping of high-value goods, was used to misappropriate items intended for delivery. These items were then sold for personal profit. The total losses amount to €1.2 million, significantly impacting the financial interests of the European Union.
Hungarian authorities issued the European Arrest Warrant on May 30. After initial intelligence suggested the fugitive may have left the country, investigators narrowed his location to the Murcia-Alicante area.
Surveillance operations monitored locations the suspect was known to frequent with police tracking a high-end vehicle linked to the fraudulent company. Once they had confirmed his movements the suspect was arrested by the National Police.
