Murcia, February 24, 2025 – The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia has conducted an investigation into a burglary at a home in Pliego, where jewellery and cash worth €10,000 were stolen. The operation has led to the arrest of a resident of Archena as the alleged perpetrator of a continuous theft offense.
The Civil Guard has recovered some of the stolen jewellery, which was found in various gold-buying establishments.
The investigation began when a married couple from Pliego reported to the Civil Guard that numerous pieces of jewellery, cash, and a laptop had been stolen from their home. The total value of the stolen items exceeded €10,000.
The victims informed officers that they had not noticed any forced entry to doors or windows and that the thefts had occurred gradually since last August.
Civil Guard investigators gathered evidence and focused on individuals close to the victims—people who may have had access to the home without forcing entry.
This information, combined with inspections of gold-buying businesses in Mula, Las Torres de Cotillas, and Murcia, revealed that a family member of the victims was linked to the sale of the stolen jewellery.
The Civil Guard located and recovered several of the stolen items, which have since been returned to their rightful owners.
The investigation concluded with the arrest of a 39-year-old Spanish man, a resident of Archena, as the suspected perpetrator of the continuous theft offense.
The suspect, along with the recovered jewellery and case files, has been handed over to the Court of Instruction in Mula (Murcia).
